1999 Spring Camporee
Ceremonies

From the opening flag raising to the closing campfire, the ceremonies keep everyone grounded as to why we gather here - to reinforce the skills, the character building, and team building skills of Scouting - the traits exemplified in the Scout Oath and the Scout Law.

Over 170 Scouts and Scouters, from 14 different Troops, from three counties, gather for the opening flag ceremony and start of the 1999 Fremont District Camporee.
Members of the Lo La 'Qam Geela Lodge of the Order of the Arrow provide the opening and invocation for the Saturday Night Campfire. Pictured (L-R) are Eric Fredstrom as Kitchkinit the Guide, Adam Worshell as Allowat Sakima - Chief of the Fire, Leslie Freeman as Nutiket the Guard, and Alex Spreier as Meteu the Medicine Man. Following the invocation, the fire amazingly starts by itself (honest)!
Scouts watch as the Order of the Arrow selects the Scouts and Scouters from the audience who have been elected by their peers for membership in the Order of the Arrow as representing the ideals of Scouting and cheerful service to others.
T21 Scoutmaster Ray Spreier delivers the Scoutmaster's Minute.
Slowly fades the light of day,
As our campfire fades away.
Silently, each Scout should ask,
"Have I done my daily task?
Have I kept my honor bright?
Can I guiltless sleep tonight?
Have I done, and have I dared,
Everything to Be Prepared?"
