Troop Meeting
InClimb Gym

Climbing was the topic for December. Many of the boys had either worked on the Climbing merit badge at Camp Parsons last August, or had at least participated in Climbing the 40 foot tower at camp. Central Oregon is also home to Smith Rock State Park, one of the premier climbing locations in the Pacific Northwest. One troop meeting was held at the InClimb Gym in Bend, where the boys received instruction on proper harness fitting, proper rigging and handling of lines, and safety issues. The boys then had free access to the many climbing surfaces in the gym for the evening, under the watchful eyes of staff and adult troop leaders who had also received training from the staff. The evening was a great success, without a single mishap, and the boys are looking forward to going back soon.
